The International Cricket Council (ICC) will give an additional one-week facility for squad changes to all the teams participating in the mega event, sources reported on Saturday.
The date for the initial squad submission is August 29, which means all the teams will have to announce their squads by the given date.
This relief is given to the teams who may not be able to announce their squads due to ongoing series or tournaments.
However, after the announcement of the initial squad, teams can make changes in their squad without the approval of the ICC Technical Committee for one month.
It has to be mentioned that the ICC’s Support Period will begin a week before the World Cup.
If a team wants to make a change in their squad after the support period ends, then they will require the approval of the ICC Technical Committee.
The World Cup will begin on October 5 with the defending champions England taking on the runner-ups New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
10 teams will fight for the elusive title across 10 venues from October 5 to November 19, with the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad hosting the tournament opener and the final.
There are six-day matches which will start at 10:00 am Pakistan Standard Time (PST) while all other matches, including the knockouts, will be day-night fixtures starting at 01:30 pm (PST).
45 matches will be played between ten teams throughout the group stage from October 5 to November 12.
The top four teams will qualify for the semi-final.
The first semi-final will be played between the first and fourth at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, on November 15.
The second semi-final will be played between the second and third at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, on November 16.
The final of the mega event will be played between the winners of the semi-finals at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on November 19.
